Belgium is a small and prosperous nation with stunning art history and over 60 World Heritage sites. But in Belgium, evangelical and Gospel-centered churches are rare.

Diamonds and lace, French fries and waffles, quaint houses and gothic cathedrals… sandwiched between France, Luxembourg, Germany and The Netherlands, Belgium is a small and prosperous nation with a proud heritage.

Though small, Belgium is plays host to the European Union headquarters and NATO in its capital city, Brussels.

Once a traditional Catholic country, 21st Century Belgium has a liberal socialist government that has introduced secular legislation including laws permitting homosexual marriage and euthanasia.  The social care system is seen as one of the best in the world and recent studies show that most Belgians feel very happy about their lives.

Statistics cannot explain the spiritual need.  Belgium has lost its Christian values – its people are without hope and without God.  There is a tiny evangelical church, between 0.7 and 1% of the population of 10 million, but the overwhelming majority of Belgians are completely ignorant of – and totally indifferent to – the Gospel.   People don’t know Jesus… and most don’t want to know.

Empowered by God and in partnership with other Christian organisations and churches, OM Belgium is working for change.

OM Belgium seeks to encourage the Church in Belgium by offering training in missions and evangelism, short-term evangelism teams and longer term partnership through year teams.

The OM Belgium team is committed to providing opportunities for Belgian Christians to serve in their own country or in other parts of the world.

With one full time worker and a team of dedicated volunteers, OM Belgium is exciting the next generation by involving teens in TeenStreet and creating opportunities for them to get involved throughout the year in Teens In Missions and many other events.

OM Belgium’s ZavCentre is ideally situated close to Brussels airport and provides hospitality to OM workers from across the world.  The conference centre is used for international meetings and training events throughout the year, providing a vital service to OM International.

Pray for Belgium

Thank You for the diverse culture of Belgium, a combination of all its surrounding nations. Thank You for the stable economy, good social care and the general happiness of the Belgian people. We pray that You would fill all those places that material things and people cannot fill. The people of Belgium are without You; let them become open to Your word and experience a hope they've never known.
