OM Turning Point Capital Challenge - Option 1: United Kingdom
Taking a stand to make a difference, the Capital Challenge Outreach will reach Muslims in London. You can be a part in bringing the Good News of Christ to Muslims who may never have the opportunity to hear or read the Gospel in their own country. Our purpose is: ‘To Mobilise’ for outreach to Muslims, ‘To train’ in missions to Muslims, and ‘To Church Plant’ among Muslims in the UK. With this in mind we believe that ordinary Christians from around the world will make an incredible impact as they share Jesus with Muslims who are visiting or living in London. There are more than 1.8 million Muslims living in London. People from the 10/40 Window have come to London and the Muslim world is at our doorstep! People from countries that are totally closed to the Gospel live in our city and we have the opportunity to openly share the Gospel with them. Outreach opportunities abound in London, so please join us in making use of this great opportunity.
During the Outreach you will receive training, which will equip you in basic Muslim and Christian doctrine. It is cantered on the Muslim mindset and how to share the Gospel in a culturally sensitive way! It also includes International Team Life, in which you will have opportunities to cook, clean, pray and worship together! All teams will be living in CHURCHES, which means the accommodation won’t be five stars! OM is based on a ‘learn by doing’ process and you will get plenty of ‘street time’ to put into practice all you have learned. You could do anything from book tables, to street work, to door-to-door, to DVD distribution, to the famous ‘Speakers Corner’ debate! You will find yourself doing things you never though you could. Our first priority is to the church plants what we have in London; the Turkish/English in North London, and the Arabic/English in Central London. Our strategy and evangelism is based around these church plants, and is the reason for much of what you will do.

Ministry Details
Participants can expect to have training in basic Islamics, and basic Christian doctrine, along with team devotions, different evangelism methods, international team life, and a busy schedule. For the most part, the entire outreach consists of one full day of classroom training followed by a minimum of six hours of evangelism the following day. Depending on any special church events, this programme may change. A normal day in the Outreach starts with personal time (7-8:30am), which is for quite time and taking showers, breakfast etc, After 8:30 a number of things may take place, such as, church, drive to training centre, evangelism, prayer, prepare food, etc. The days vary from a heavy concentration on training or heavy concentration on evangelism. Evening programmes often go late and then there is driving back to the church accommodation after the programme, which can take over 30 minutes. One day off per week. There will be one extra long day per week with an evening prayer meeting up to 11 or 12pm
Participant Profile
This is really encouraging to see a variety of people from different nationalities working alongside one another to glorify HIS name. We need anyone who is willing to come and learn! We will take church groups who could take the skills learned back home for further use in their home church. We want university and college groups who can catch a vision for the work amongst the Muslim students and Islamic societies on their campuses! We want individuals who are prepared to be involved in multi-national, multi-cultural teams, who will face long days, church floors and amazing opportunities to share their faith in the one true God! We would like families to know that our short-term outreaches are short, intensive times of ministry and training. We have tights schedule and lots of activities during the day. Therefore it is necessary to explain what we offer so that you can realistically evaluate if this is the right experience for you and your family If you are interested, please ask for our Family Policy

[ back ]Stories from United Kingdom
Hearing God's Love (21-Jul-2010) In March 2009, an OMer met a young lady, Jasmine*, and had many opportunities to share God's love with her. Jasmine is from the Arab world, married and has three children. Since then, Jasmine's life has become more complicated, in the midst of growing faith.
Lifehope Lifeline Issue 2 - 2010 (19-Jul-2010) OM Lifehope's work amongst Muslim people takes many forms. From one-off conversations at a book table, to regular events sharing God's love practically in a community setting; from tea in people's homes, to public television broadcasts; with people of different ethnicities or focussing on one people group. These stories give a flavour of this disparate ministry!
Driving Sandy builds trust (5-Jul-2010) God opens a door for an OM worker to pray with her acquaintance and give her a Children's Bible.
Willing to know more (8-Jun-2010) Participants of an outreach team in London see God soften the heart of a Muslim man they meet and share with.
Lifehope Birmingham Outreach 2010 (27-Apr-2010) One of the highlighs was when we invited some children in the park to the Kids’ Club. We gave them balloons and told them about the face painting and games. They convinced their parents to let them come. I was so happy that the children were so open and it was easy to invite them to come to the church.
Lifehope Coventry Outreach (27-Apr-2010) It has been great to have an OM Lifehope team for this mission. It has enabled us as a church to do outreach we would not have normally had the people and resources to do; for instance local village square outreach and door-to-door visits. A particular highlight has been a good number of new Muslim ladies attending our women's event and a record number of parents and children from the local area coming to our Family Fun Day. This has been a direct result of team members raising the profile of the church in the area during the week. Steve (church ministry leader)
From Niagara to Leicester (29-Mar-2010) The main focus of the week was working with children in the community by running a three day after school club and a youth event.
New Life - Willing To Make Sacrifices (23-Mar-2010) On a cold wet day a few weeks ago, team members began to place contact details of the local Turkish / English Fellowship on pieces of Gospel literature. It was their prayer to not only distribute this literature, but also to have conversations with people who were open to hear about God's love.
Lifehope Lifeline Issue 1- 2010 (26-Feb-2010)
Our Mission:
Bringing life and hope to communities in the UK.
Partnering with the Church in its mission.
Reaching and discipling people from many nations.
In the past two Lifelines we have focussed on the first two aims. In this Lifeline we are focussing on:
Reach and disciple people from many nations
7+7+7 = Transit Challenge on the road this month! (10-Feb-2010) For those who think 7 is a good number, then Transit Challenge, OM Europe’s latest programme, must be a good thing!
Lifehope Lifeline Autumn 2009 (9-Feb-2010) The Lifehope Lifeline has been focusing on our vision. The last edition was about first aim, bringing life and hope to communities in the UK. This edition is about our second aim.
Connecting the team to the world - UK Turning Point (1-Feb-2010) When Betty first joined OM Turning Point’s team, she was concerned that her IT experience and skills would not be sufficient to head up the IT department. She was in for a big surprise!
Joy in the City - Walsall 2010 (27-Jan-2010) Literature was given out in the shopping centre, people were visited in their homes and a lot of rubbish was cleared from the streets! It was great to see how it all worked together.
New Year, New Life in Bridgnorth (27-Jan-2010) The mission was called 'New Year, New Life' and it was a great week consisting of door to door, children’s and youth work, open air programmes, an international night, coffee morning and distribution of literature.
A place of friendly conversation over coffee closed (8-Dec-2009) OM's Coffee Corner on Edgware Road, a ministry of friendly conversation, had to close in September. Please pray for wisdom for the team as they continue to engage with the local community.
Perception vs Reality (7-Dec-2009) Sometimes our perception of a person is not reality; there are missed opportunities to share the Gospel because of fear and preconceived ideas. Fortunately God can use these occasions to minister to those involved in the conversation, as a team member with OM Turning Point ministry in London shares.
Europe? You're on! (23-Sep-2009) OM introduces two new European exposure programmes: TRANSIT CHALLENGE and HOPE2EUROPE. Join one of these teams and become part of the vision to bring hope to Europe.
Learning to look at the world through God's eyes (7-Sep-2009) I probably looked funny to people on the street: an obvious foreigner with an oversized backpack secured tightly, and a stuffed bag slung over my shoulder, standing in front of what looked like a deserted building on a Saturday afternoon. I knocked timidly, knowing I was at the right place, but received no answer, so I rang the bell.
Children's Ministry (3-Sep-2009) Either in a central London park or church, OM Turning Point’s Children’s Ministry is complete with face painting, balloon animals, parachute games, story time, clowns, songs and crafts.
Lifehope - Europe Special Report (2-Sep-2009) Because of this team of individuals from God, we were able to run an immensely fruitful children's holiday club, the impacting community fun day and an evangelistic youth event that was incredibly fruitful.
