We will be partnering with OM HSI (Heart Sounds International) for this outreach to the Breton people in Brittany. You will use the musical gifts God has given you to create culturally relevant worship music to speak to the hearts of thousands of festival goers. If you’re not musical, there is still a place for you! We need team members who are ready to engage with the crowd on different levels, encouraging listeners to go a step further in their thinking about God.Brittany is one of the regions of France with the fewest churches per capita, and the county we will be working in is no exception: around one church for every 60,000 people! Druidic and Roman Catholic tradition still have a stronghold, and postmodernist values are held in high esteem. Our goal is to reach the population and speak to their hearts in a way they will understand, using culturally relevant music as a key to unlock Biblical truths and reveal the message of hope that we have in Jesus Christ!
Available for: Singles Couples Groups
You will be part of an international team comprising musicians and non-musicians.
We have two goals: to integrate an international Celtic music festival and shine as lights in a spiritually dark environment; to perform a series of private concerts hosted by churches and Christian families wishing to invite friends and contacts.
There will be times when everyone in the team is together, and times when sub-teams operate separately.
The first part of the outreach will be dedicated to training, preparation, cultural orientation and Bible teaching. There may be outreach during this period for the non-musicians.
The second week will be more on-the-ground action, with festival outreach, private and public concerts.
There will be workshops to train you in the methods to be used during the week and to share the message of Jesus.
During the outreach we will meet for daily prayer, worship, and devotional times.
We are still working to fix the final programme!
There will also be at least one day of rest.
Humble, Christ-centred worshippers, including musicians and non-musicians. See participants profile Philippians 2:5-8. Are ready to serve your Creator in whatever way He requires of you? We are looking for participants with a servant-heart, ready to be taught by and used by God during this project.
You need to be prepared to work as a part of a team. Your team will likely be multi-cultural, so you should be ready to adapt, and accept differences in others.
Although not obligatory, knowledge of French would be an advantage, to help communication with the local church and contacts that we meet.
Musicians must submit examples of their ability via a secondary online application.
During certain sessions/concerts we may provide some child-friendly options, so experience working with kids for non-musicians would be an advantage.
During the outreach you may be housed either at a local church, or in church members’ homes. You may even be camping! (Instruments will be securely stored in an appropriate environment). So, you may need to bring an inflatable mattress and bedding. We will confirm this in the last few weeks before the start.
We hope to be able to provide separate accommodation for couples depending on availability.
Meals may be provided by local churches. It may be that you also need to prepare some meals.
You should be prepared to help with meal preparation and clean-up.
