Participants will be involved in the third annual Central European Sport Conference in Rivne, Ukraine from July 6-9 (CESC 2009). On July 10 you will travel to Hungary and participate in sports outreach until July 17. For the outreach, we will offer training for youth 10-16 in the basic skills of baseball helping them to learn and understand the game of baseball and developing them into a team that can join the Hungarian baseball league. This will give the Hungarian church planter ongoing relationships for follow-up and discipleship. At the end, you will return to Ukraine for reporting and debriefing with all that were at the training conference to hear what God did around Central Europe.

The team will promote the sport of baseball in the cities and villages where there are already baseball teams to strengthen and encourage those teams. They will also give the church planter and churches in that city or village the opportunity to build relationships with those already playing baseball and those who come out for training. The team will openly share the Gospel during the training and during the game. The church planter and/or church leaders will be committed to follow-up by continuing to play the sport and visit those that show interest in the Gospel. The local team and local churches will be responsible for advertising and promoting the event as well as lining up sufficient number of translators. Terry Lingenhoel (OM) who has 16 years of ministry experience in Hungary and Mike Swanson (ABWE) who has 10 years experience will be on the team and your ministry coordinators. They will be in contact with the Hungarian teams and churches.

The team meets up in Odessa for orientation on the 26th of June and leaves for the camp grounds the next day. Together with local Christians preparations for the camp and a visit to a church service of the local congregation follows on the Sunday. Here participants already have the opportunity to bless the local church with song or mime! The camp commences on Monday the 29th of June. Children attending are between the ages of 6 and 16 years of age and most are from poor and unbelieving families. After the camp the team returns to the City of Odessa for a day of rest and debriefing before returning home on the 7th of July.

You could do anything from book-tables, to street work, to door-to-door, to video distribution, to the famous ‘Speakers Corner’ debate! You will find yourself doing things you never thought you could. Our first priority is to the church plants that we have in London; the Turkish/English church in North London, and the Arabic/English church in Central London. Our strategy and evangelism is based around these church plants, and is the reason for much of what you will do.

You will join the Kids 'n' Things team in presenting a holiday club programme aimed at children aged 5 to 11 during the summer schools holiday. One-week holiday clubs are an effective way of bringing children into church. Many children will join, some of which have no regular church contact. Many children have made commitments to Jesus as a result of taking part in a Kids 'n' Things holiday club. You will first spend the first week at our Training Centre learning the skills needed for the club and practising the programme. You will then go to different locations in the UK for take part in these holiday clubs. The final one will be in a seaside town in Cornwall.
