FAQ (Partnerships with OM) E-mail

What is Church Mobilization?
Church Mobilization is the term OM has given to our ministry of serving and connecting with local churches. We believe that the local church is God’s primary instrument to evangelize the world. Ministries like OM have been raised up by God to help facilitate the outreach of local churches in a global network or family of mission initiatives. Local churches can send their members through OM without having to create the sending, supervising and member care structures themselves. Mobilizing the church includes helping church leaders motivate, educate and involve their members in local and global mission.

Can OM help our church connect with a local church overseas?
Yes, we can. OM teams around the world are in partnership with local churches in their communities. These churches often welcome the partnership of an American church. We have helped three US churches partner with a church in St. Petersburg, Russia. We are assisting another US church in a church-to-church partnership in Moldova. These partnerships involve a process of getting to know one another, discussing the nature and purpose of the partnership, visits to the field and involvement in ministry together. They have proven to be mutually beneficial to all the parties involved.

How does OM partner with my church?
OM seeks to esteem and involve the local church and its leadership at every level of the sending process, including:
  • pastoral references for church members applying to join OM
  • visits from OM leaders to participate in the commissioning of new missionaries
  • meeting with church leaders to explain how we can partner together in the sending and member care ministry for your members
  • encouraging local churches to partner with their own OM missionaries by sending short-term teams to their field of service, committing to pray and support their missionary, and by scheduling a pastoral visit to your missionary.
Additionally, OM provides resources to local churches to assist them in their mission ministry. We provide opportunities for churches to participate in short-term outreaches. On a deeper level, we offer churches an opportunity to develop ongoing partnerships that create synergy between the church and OM work overseas.
